How We Can Help

We are currently able to assist applicants who qualify with some financial help.  To prevent or alleviate homelessness, we can provide up to the last $200 needed for rent, housing deposit, mortgage, hotel stay of 1-3 days, utility bill or deposit, or bus ticket to a shelter or home base, for those who qualify.

  • A resident of Mahaska County.
  • Have not received help from the Homelessness Coalition in the last 12 months.
  • Have income going forward sufficient enough to be pay ongoing housing expenses.
  • With our potential contribution of $200, the entire amount owed will be paid. In other words, we can contribute the last $200 owed. This may mean that you will need to seek assistance from other sources as well, (e.g. Love INC, County Relief, Salvation Army, SIEDA, etc.).
  • For hotel requests, assistance of 1-3 days can only be approved as a bridge to get you to a verifiable housing arrangement which begins immediately at the conclusion of the 1-3 days.
  • Complete the online application or contact the volunteer intake worker (Tues-Thurs, 8:30-1:30) to apply at (641) 670-0717.
